A protected area of exceptional natural features
The "Sesalac Cave" Natural Monument is located in eastern Serbia, in the eastern part of the basin of Sokobanja, near the Sesalac village, after which it was named. The natural resource is easily reached from the regional road Sokobanja – Knjaževac. It is 17 km away from Sokobanja and 245 km away from Belgrade.
The Cave is situated between 590 and 650 meters above sea level. There is also “Rtanj", the Special Nature Reserve to the northwest of the "Sesalac Cave" Natural Monument; additionally, within the municipality of Sokobanja, there are other protected natural areas: the "Ozren meadows", landscape of outstanding natural beauty, the "Lepterija-Sokograd" area of outstanding features, and the "Ripaljka" Natural Monument, which was the first protected natural asset in Serbia in 1949.

Protected area of Sesalac Cave
Sesalac Cave is a protected area of exceptional natural features, registered as a natural asset due to its geological, hydrological, landscape, and biological value.
The protected zone includes not only the cave entrance and underground passages, but also its immediate surroundings: Sesalac Lake, the spring zone, forested areas, characteristic karst formations, and the entire natural environment that preserves a unique ecosystem.
Directions from Sokobanja to Sesalac Cave
The easiest way to reach the site is from the regional road Sokobanja–Knjaževac, turning north near Čitluk toward the villages of Sesalac and Milušinac, then at the intersection turning left through the village of Sesalac.
